EV Charging Cost Calculator
Electric cars are increasingly popular in Denmark, thanks to favourable tax incentives and a growing charging infrastructure. This calculator helps you determine the cost of a single charge and what each kilometre costs you in electricity. Our charging calculator gives you an overview of home charging costs and lets you compare prices with public charging stations.
Charging at Home vs. Public Stations
Home charging is by far the cheapest option for EV owners in Denmark. Using a home wall box with overnight electricity rates, you can typically charge at 1.50โ2.50 kr per kWh. Public fast chargers are more expensive, often 3.50โ5.00 kr per kWh, but are essential for longer trips. Most Danish EV owners do 80โ90% of their charging at home.
EV vs. Petrol: Cost Comparison
A typical electric car uses about 15โ18 kWh per 100 km, costing roughly 37โ45 kr per 100 km at home charging rates. In comparison, a petrol car consuming 6 litres per 100 km at current fuel prices of around 13 kr per litre costs approximately 78 kr per 100 km. This means an EV can be about 50% cheaper to drive per kilometre.
