Holiday Pay Calculator 2026
In Denmark, all employees are entitled to holiday pay (feriepenge) calculated as a percentage of their gross annual income. The standard rate is 12.5%, covering 5 weeks (25 days) of paid holiday per year under the Danish Holiday Act (Ferieloven). Holiday pay accrues continuously and is typically managed through FerieKonto or your employer's holiday pay scheme. Use our calculator to see how much holiday pay you have earned.
How is holiday pay calculated?
Holiday pay equals 12.50% of your salary and is calculated before ATP, AM-bidrag, and tax deductions. However, you must still pay AM-bidrag (8%) and income tax on the amount. The net amount is what you actually receive when you take your holiday. Since September 2020, Denmark operates a concurrent holiday system (samtidighedsferie), meaning you earn and can use holiday at the same time.
When are holiday pay funds released?
Your holiday pay is paid out at the earliest 1 month before your first holiday day. If you order your feriepenge less than 4 weeks before your first holiday day, the money is paid to your NemKonto within 4 bank days. Unused holiday pay may be carried over or paid out depending on your agreement.
Can you receive holiday pay without taking holiday?
If you have holiday pay from a previous job, you may be able to receive it without taking holiday. The rules depend on your employment situation and the holiday year. Contact your A-kasse or FerieKonto for details about your options.
