Analyse your putting

Putting is the most important part of golf โ€“ up to 40% of all strokes are putts. This calculator helps you analyse your putting performance.

Holed percentage

Your holed percentage shows how many putts you sink from a given distance. PGA Tour players hole about 50% from 2.5 metres, but only about 15% from 6 metres. For amateurs, 30-40% from 2-3 metres is typical.

Miss distance

When you miss, knowing how far the ball ends from the hole matters. Good putting ensures missed putts land close for an easy next putt.

Improving putting

Focus on distance control and line control. Practise regularly from various distances. Most amateurs can significantly improve with 15-20 minutes of targeted practice per week.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many putts per round is good?

PGA Tour average is about 29 putts per round. For amateurs, under 32 is good, 32-36 is average, and over 36 is above average. Focus on reducing 3-putts.

What is the most important putting skill?

Distance control is the most important putting skill. Being able to control how far the ball rolls is more valuable than reading the line perfectly. Good distance control dramatically reduces 3-putts.

How do I use this data to improve?

Practise from the distance where your holed percentage is lowest. Set specific goals โ€“ e.g. hole 50% from 2 metres. Track results over time. Vary distances and include pressure putts in practice.
