Cat pregnancy calculator
Our calculator helps you calculate your cat's expected birth date based on the mating day. A cat's pregnancy typically lasts about 65 days (9-10 weeks) but can vary from 58 to 72 days. The calculator shows the expected date along with earliest and latest possible birth dates.
Cat pregnancy week by week
In the first 2 weeks, fertilization and implantation occur. In weeks 3-4, kittens begin developing organs and the cat's appetite increases. In weeks 5-6, kittens can be felt by gently palpating the abdomen and the belly starts growing visibly. In weeks 7-8, kittens move actively and the cat starts looking for a nesting place. In week 9, kittens are fully developed and birth approaches.
Signs that birth is approaching
As birth approaches, the cat will typically become restless, seek secluded places, stop eating and possibly have discharge. Body temperature drops about 1 degree 12-24 hours before birth. Most cats give birth without problems, but keep the vet's number ready just in case.
Care during pregnancy
Pregnant cats need extra nutrition โ up to 50% more in the last third of pregnancy. Ensure access to fresh water, a calm and safe environment, and limit stress. Avoid vaccinations and certain medications during pregnancy โ always consult your vet.
