Pet food calculator
Our food calculator helps you determine how much food your pet needs daily and weekly. The calculation considers animal type, weight and activity level to provide an accurate estimate.
Dog โ daily food amount
An adult dog typically needs food equivalent to 2-3% of its body weight per day. An active dog that runs and plays a lot needs more than a calm dog that mostly sleeps. A 20 kg dog with normal activity level should receive about 500 grams of food daily. Remember to split food into 2 meals.
Cat โ daily food amount
Cats need food equivalent to 3-4% of their body weight per day. A 5 kg cat with normal activity level should receive about 175 grams of food daily. Indoor cats often have lower activity levels and should have their food amount adjusted accordingly.
Rabbit โ daily food amount
Rabbits have a higher food requirement relative to their weight and need about 5% of their body weight in food daily. Most should consist of hay, supplemented with fresh vegetables and a small amount of pellets.
Hamster โ daily food amount
Hamsters need about 10% of their body weight in food daily. A 150-gram hamster should receive about 15 grams of food per day. Food should consist of a mix of seeds, grains, fresh vegetables and a little fruit.
Importance of activity level
Activity level significantly affects food requirements. A low activity level (older animals, indoor animals) reduces the need by about 20%, while a high activity level (working dogs, young active animals) increases it by about 20%. Always adapt the food amount to your pet's individual needs.
