Running metres (lm) is the total length of boards measured in metres. 7 boards of 3 metres = 21 running metres. It's a practical unit for ordering timber, as prices are often quoted per running metre.

What board width should I choose?

For decking, 14.5 cm is standard. For cladding, 12.5-15 cm is common. For flooring, 10-15 cm depending on style. Wider boards give a modern rustic look, narrow boards a classic look.
