The most common types are mineral wool (stone wool and glass wool) supplied in batts or rolls. A standard package covers about 4.32 mยฒ. Alternatives include cellulose (blown-in), polystyrene (EPS/XPS) and PUR foam.

Recommended thicknesses

Danish building regulations require certain U-values. For loft insulation, at least 300 mm is recommended; for external walls, 200-300 mm; for floors, 150-200 mm.

Do I need a vapour barrier?

Yes, a vapour barrier is important on the warm side of the insulation to prevent moisture from penetrating. Without it, condensation can accumulate causing moisture damage and mould. It's typically installed as plastic sheeting on the inside of the insulation.
